Okay, so the first step in our guide to how to blow dry hair straight is to allow your locks to air dry until damp to remove as much moisture as possible. Then, it’s time to select your styling product - if you have fine hair, we suggest applying a lightweight blow dry lotion like the Tigi Catwalk Sleek Mystique Blow Out Balm, as it will help you keep your locks super smooth without weighing them down which of course would result in flat tresses, which we are totally not going for. Before you begin to blow dry your hair straight, divide your hair into four sections - one on either side of your head, one at the back and one at the crown. When you’re ready to start blow-drying, clip the side and top sections up and away for now (psst - always leave the section at the crown till last) and then, gather up an inch-wide portion of hair from the remaining section. Now, to blow dry your hair straight be sure to aim the nozzle of your hairdryer down the hair shaft, running a paddle brush through your locks as you go. This will help to seal your hair’s cuticle as you blow-dry for ultra smooth results. Then, move on to the next inch-wide piece of hair, and continue to dry until your hair is completely moisture-free. Pro tip: to maximise sleekness and shine, give your strands a quick blast with your hairdryer’s cool setting once you have dried each section of hair. When you have finished at the back, move on to the sides and top section of your tresses.

When you have finished blow drying all of your hair sleek and straight, finish up by applying a smattering of shine-enhancing serum (we love the Tigi Bed Head Candy Fixations Glaze Haze) throughout your tresses for a salon worthy finish. Don’t go overboard with the serum though, or your hair may end up looking a little, shall we say - greasy? Gah. For best results, simply rub a small amount of product between your palms and apply it directly onto your locks.
