That pic vs your hair. Generally, we all tend to get our hair inspo from celebs, Pinterest, Insta and, rightly so - with sooo many amazing hairstyles in front of us it makes it difficult not to lust over a hairstyle we have seen and/or stalked. But, what is really important to remember is to visit your hairdresser with realistic hairspectations. Like, those people in the pics that you are swooning over will have had hours of styling with some even being photoshopped for a flawless picture perfect finish. Not only that, all hair types are different, so what will work on some won’t work on others due to their hair texture. All you need to do is find a balance between that fave pic and what works for your hair, and you and your stylist will both be more than happy with the result.

Your hair history plays a vital role in your current hair life. One thing that is suuuuper important is to let your hairdresser know your hair story before they are let loose on your locks. For example - when was it last dyed? Has it even been dyed before? Have you ever had a perm/chemical treatment? Do you wear hair extensions? Letting your stylist know your general hair history will help them better serve your needs and requirements, leaving you with a flawless results that work for you. They will also be able to recommend specific products and treatments that will be best suited for you and your hair type, too - need we say more?! :)

Okay, so lets make it clear that coloring and lightening are opposites (make sure you remember this!). Each process is completely and utterly different - so if you are planning on going darker or to stay a similar shade, the process will involve popping color molecules onto your current hair shade which is generally a pretty quick process. However, if you are having your hair lightened, this process involves removing the molecules (menlanin) from your hair, which in turn makes it appear lighter. So, if you have jet black hair and want to be a light, icy blonde. This will not, we repeat, will not be achieved in one sitting at your lovely hair salon. Think Khloe K and how long it took her to go from her dark locks to the amazing blonde shade she is rocking at the moment.

You get what you pay for. Okay, it’s all good and well wanting to save a few bucks on your hair cut/color. But, is it reallyyy worth it? Like, really worth it? Finding a hair salon that will do a cut and colour for 10 shiny ones is all well and good. But, when you skip on outta there with a patchy hair shade and an uneven haircut you’ll be wishing you spent that liiiittle bit extra on your tresses. Instead, find a salon where money is injected into training the hairdressers on the latest styles and techniques so that when you do need a bad hair do’ fixing or want the latest hairstyle the hairdressers are well equipped and ready to go in an instant. It’s definitely worth unearthing the salons that push their staff to enter competitions and that have won awards to take you closer to your hair dreams, too. Remember, practise makes perfect!

So you’re loving your new hair - then why not tell your gal pals. When your hair has been did and you are more than loving it, as well as your new hairdresser. The anxiety has gone and you more than happy with the outcome. All that’s left to do is one simple thing, tell people - like, spread the word. Your hairdresser will appreciate you more and think you are super cute, too (obvs you are!). The hairdressing industry relies heavily on word of mouth recommendations to bring in new customers and hey, if you’re happy - others will be too, right!? Plus there’s always a chance of a little discount on your next do’, you never know! : )
