So you’ve been swooning over bouncy, voluminous hair and you just like, need to have it. To a hairdresser this is known as texturizing, in hair cutting terms - this means giving a blunt hairstyle different lengths so there is plenty of movement in the hair which will help create more bounce and volume.

For those of you who literally hate going to the hairdressers out of sheer fear you’re going to walk out bald, this one is for you. Let us introduce - dusting/ Yup, dusting is when the most minimal amount of hair is cut, so the slightest trim for those who are trying to grow out their hair whilst keeping it super healthy, too.

Next up, the blunt cut - you probably know this one but just in case. This is a haircut that is all one length and can be both short and long, plus it’s super on trend at the moment, too.

Chemical cut, the two dreaded words that you never want to hear from your hairstylists mouth. This basically means that your hair has been so over processed that it breaks and looks as though you’ve had a haircut. *covers eyes*

Okay, so if you are oozing for soft, loose waves be sure to mutter the words ‘Gisele Waves’ to your hairstylist. This hairstyle is more about movement rather than volume and we just love how hairdressers get it with ease.

Now, if you your hair to look super layered and ‘piecey’ be sure to ask your hairdresser for a ‘point cut’. This is when scissors are used to cut hair vertically instead of horizontally. Leaving you with a much softer, natural finish.

Have you ever wondered what your hairdresser meant by a graduated cut? Well, this is a build of weight, 45 degrees from the head shape. This hairstyling technique can be done in many different ways, too. For example you are able to frame your face using this technique, you can have a stacked/angled bob or even side swept bangs. This technique gives ultimate movement and structure to your haircut for a flawless finish.

Finally, if you are looking for a non-conventional, different hair cut - think Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Rihanna's undercut (for example). So hair shapes will be choppy, asymmetrical and/or short cut/ shaved and long on top.
